Access to Justice, adherence to Rule of Law, provide stable and just society- Lawyer E. M. Joof
Gambian human rights lawyer and Project Manager of UN’s Rule of Law Centre in Juba, Sudan, Emmanuel Daniel Joof, told a cross section of Gambian writers, academics and civil society representatives that for any society to progress, maintain stability and remain just to its people, that society has to provide access to justice as well as adhere to the principles of the Rule of Law, a noble concept that has become worthless in most of Africa due to abuse and misapplication even by the worst tyrants.

Gambia’s Criminal Justice System
BAIL IS A RIGHT CIRCUMSCRIBED BY REASONABLE AND JUSTIFIABLE CONDITIONS
BY HALIFA SALLAH, Serekunda, The Gambia
Compatriots, Pan Africanists and Internationalists, developments of far reaching historical experience are taking place in our homeland. It is therefore necessary for PDOIS which seeks to be a credible alternative to the APRC to draw a clear line of demarcation between the systems of government advocated by the two political forces.

Nigeria’s Promise, Africa’s Hope
By CHINUA ACHEBE (author of Things Fall Apart)
AFRICA has endured a tortured history of political instability and religious, racial and ethnic strife. In order to understand this bewildering, beautiful continent — and to grasp the complexity that is my home country, Nigeria, Africa’s most populous nation — I think it is absolutely important that we examine the story of African people.

Atta Mills’ stupid Pan-African calculus
By Kofi Akosah-Sarpong
Whatever others may make of him, John Atta Mills continues to see himself in the mirror of Pan-Africanism, a philosophy that seeks cultural, political and economical unity of Africa. From his teaching years at the University of Ghana to his political and social life, Mills is actuated by a lofty Pan-Africanism vision.

UK writer rebukes Gambian Bar over shameful silence on worsening human rights
By Sarjo Bayang, UK
London, UK--Of all professional organizations within The Gambia, the legal fraternity remains most disappointing to our population. What is probably most amazing about this entity is that, after knowing all the legal realities of armed seizure of power, The Gambia Bar association chooses to close its eyes to the truth and blatantly refuses to challenge the illegal conduct of The Gambia National Army in seizing power by force and then holding the whole nation hostage for almost 20 years now.

For The Gambia Our Homeland
By Foday Samateh, New York
I am no Jonathan Swift with a Modest Proposal for my nation’s oppressor. However, at the alarming rate perplexing events unfold; lights will go out on hope quite soon. Some disillusioned Gambian will have to face the disconsolate reality, pay homage to that renowned writer’s enduring supreme irony and, with all its resonating sarcasm, suggest to the petty dictator the most callous ways of hacking and dismembering the nation.

Ex-Deputy military leader in Jammeh’s junta, Capt.Sana B. Sabally, says Jammeh trains MFDC rebels, provides them Gambian passports, IDs, Birth Certificates, military paraphernalia etc, etc. (Part:1)
In a lengthy commentary discussing the dire circumstances of Gambians in exile and what we could do to flush Jammeh out of office, former Vice Chairman of the Armed Forces Provisional Ruling Council (AFPRC) that swept away the constitutionally elected government of Sir Dawda K. Jawara, Captain Sana B. Sabally, has written a terse statement reacting to the recent diplomatic tensions between The Gambia and Senegal as well as his feelings about the recent arms cache in the Port of Apapa in Nigeria. The former military strongman who allegedly ran afoul of his disgraceful comrade, Yahya Jammeh, was arrested, court-martialled and sent to Mile II Prisons for nine years and ever since his release he too, has joined the listless list of Gambian émigrés.
