RE: Immediate Release Of Fatou Jaw Manneh
It is with great concern and urgency that I write to solicit your assistance in the immediate release of Ms. Fatou Jaw-Manneh, a Gambian journalist based in the U.S. Early this week, Ms. Jaw-Manneh arrived in The Gambia for a family visit but was arrested by Gambian authorities at the airport.

Unassailable sources from the Gambian Department of State for The Interior reveal that Gambian journalist Fatou Jaw Manneh is under NIA custody following her arrest early this week. Says our competent sources, her arrest follows a tip off to the notorious National Intelligence Agency (NIA), apparently by some wicked persons most likely some passengers aboard the same flight that Ms. Jaw was headed home for vacation. No sooner had the plane

As we reminisce over the activities of The Gambia National Assembly vis-à-vis President Yahya Jammeh’s treatment of most of its members as a bunch of idiots or obedient boys whose arms could be twisted without incident, Hon. Fabakary Tombong Jatta’s recent attempt at a Code of Conduct is frankly speaking, seminally nonsensical. Like his Speaker, Fatoumata Jahumpa Ceesay (FJC), Majority Leader Fabakary Tombong Jatta (FTJ) is a legislative ignoramus by every stretch of the imagination, an idiot by

It is always easy to scapegoat the youths for their predicaments in the country. This is one of the heated debates I had with my brother and some of his friends at his house, as I am on a very short visit to The Gambia. It was not an acrimonious discussion but one of those frequent intellectual debates we normally have with him and his Vous mates. He is a “highly intelligent and educated person” and one of the top civil servants in Jammeh’s government.

Our Verdict columnist Adama Hawa has just read our lead story this morning captioned "The Power of Chance: Fatou Who?" and has a few more things to add to Speaker Fatoumata Jahumpa Ceesay's sexed up resume. Since she is a public figure, we cannot censor Adama's piece. Below we reproduce Adama Hawa's reactions

Whenever the British sing Britain for British or French shout France pour les Françaises the non-citizens quickly become nervous and feel uncomfortable and scary. They spontaneously respond by accusing them of xenophobia and racism. They are easily seen as people spreading hatred against outsiders.

The old adage that empty barrels make most noise is true to its meaning in contemporary Gambia than any where else today. The question “Fatou Who?” is deliberate because in a true democracy with all the complex ingredients that make up a nation’s real body politic, Fatou Jahumpa Ceesay cannot even qualify to serve as a messenger let alone House Speaker. In case you did not know, like most of Yahya

Yahya Jammeh’s authoritarian government's ability to maintain itself in power in The Gambia has been helped by the fact that it has never faced a high level popular mobilization. The violent repression, the brutal killing of a fleeing soldier in the middle of the nation’s biggest market in broad day light, the impenitent killing of fourteen innocent school children

Dr Fox says...

“Find out just what the people will submit to and you have found
out the exact amount of injustice and wrong which will be imposed upon
them; and these will continue until they are resisted with either words
or blows, or with both. The limits of tyrants are prescribed by the
endurance of those whom they oppress.” ~ Frederick douglass
