Momodou Badjie Takes Issue With Solo Saine

Please Mr. Sankareh:

Allow me space in your paper and edit it to meet your editorial standard. Lately, your paper encountered a lot unnecessary arguments from your subscribers. The saga between Solo Saine and Captain Jallow is not necessary at all. What will Mr. Saine get out of it? We Gambians have a lot at stake rather than a fathom menace. Whether Captain Jallow is a Captain in the US army or not, is irrelevant. In the Gambian Army he earned the rank that's enough. Do you want us to believe three tour duties, as a killer gunman in Ramadhi and Mosul in the US army with a Purple Heart Medal from the President of the United States is the best uh... then congratulations!

You do not have to belittle the Gambian Army by labeling their Captain lazy. He was a senior officer of an army from another sovereign nation. Let us be respectful to each other. If you had served in The Gambia National Army what do you think your rank would have been Sergeant Solo Saine??? My advice to all of you is to stay off the unnecessary arguments. This paper is far more important than one might imagine. We in The Gambia are thinking about how to get rid of our dictator Dr. A.J.J Jammeh and not something so petty like what you guys are arguing about. Sometimes, I think is better for some of your American based readers to visit The Gambia and see the level of poverty in the country side. Then they will begin to appreciate the magnitude of the problem our country faced with. At times, I read the paper and see contributors blaming my own ethnic group, the Jola but truth be told only a few of my people are with Yahya Jammeh and the sooner the people realize that, the better. So please, let us be one and fight the common enemy and leave these petty quarrels about personalities. After all, why would a person in his right mind be talking about his killing resume in battlefield? You questioned the Captains credentials, he replied and provided all the schools he attended. The best thing to have done was to contact those schools and further verify the authenticity of his story if it’s worth your valuable time. All of us cannot do the same kind of work in life; some have to be soldiers and some doctors and etc. However, so many foreigners are forced to join foreign armies only to get papers and let us hope that our desert warrior is not among that category. For God sake, while I am against censorship, some of this nonsense should be ignored so that we can deal with more relevant national issues.

Sincerely,

Momodou Badgie "Anaybh",

Foni, Western Region, The Gambia.
