Breaking News: NIA Allegedly Arrests Ex-Information Minister Neneh Macdouall Gaye
By Ebrima G. Sankareh, Editor-In-Chief

According to highly placed sources reaching The Gambia Echo Newspaper, Erstwhile Information Minister and spokesperson of the Jammeh regime, Neneh Macdouall Gaye was allegedly arrested by agents of National Intelligence Agency (NIA) late last week. Reveals a very competent source at the President’s office, “while the details over her arrest remain sketchy, I can confirm that she was picked up last week and then released; she has since been reporting to the NIA on a daily basis.” Asked what may have led to her arrest our source said, “It may be part of a routine exercise that the NIA conducts after high profile officials like Madam Gaye fall from grace.” Asked how come Nenneh’s appointment to the United Nations was aborted after she was demoted as Information Minister, our source said, that is very common, in this regime, you are never confirmed until after you secure the post and since it was a mere announcement, it did not mean anything of substance. Our source has promised to dig deeper into the alleged arrest and has asked that we call later today for an update. Ever since we received this breaking news seven hours ago, we have been frantically working the phone lines but our operative Kissy Kissy Mansa could not be reached.
Editor’s Note: As it stands, we only report this arrest as a mere allegation pending the confirmation of the story by our lead State House operative Kissy Kissy Mansa.
