The Abundance Fund- The Dawn of a New Era in International Development

By EBRIMA G. SANKAREH, Editor-In-Chief

The Gambia Echo is proud to present to our global readership, a very unique, highly reputable international development program-The Abundance Fund; an independent organisation geared towards alleviating poverty through small scale programs in select areas around the world.

Headquartered in San Francisco, California in the United States, The Abundance Fund is headed by Dr. Kevin Warr, PhD, the founder and Executive Director. Dr. Warr is a seasoned international development professional with over 15 years experience in the international development field, including working for USAID, the World Bank, and private voluntary organizations in Africa. Among his numerous accomplishments is the successful implementation of well over 20 development programs in 15 countries.

With six high profile and highly experienced development specialists as Board of Directors, the Abundance Fund continues to make a difference in the lives of locals around the globe.

Gambian born Musa Bassadi Jawara sits on the Fund’s Advisory Board for West Africa. A naturalized American, Jawara brings with him a wealth of experience spanning a decade’s work in economic development projects in sub-Saharan Africa, South-East Asia and the Middle East. A fellow of the Thomas Jefferson Scholarship Fund, Jawara received a Bachelor's degree in Economics from the University of Maryland, College Park, matriculated in Tokyo, Japan, and holds a Master's degree in Economics from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee.

Below is their maiden press release on The Echo to help familiarize potential applicants and or beneficiaries with the kind of work they do and how to apply for assistance. The Gambia Echo is proud of Musa Bassadi Jawara’s initiative to fight for The Gambia’s inclusion in a worthwhile venture that it had hitherto never benefited from and we encourage Gambians to take advantage of this and apply soonest.

We are unique:

   Grassroots organizations compete for funds from The Abundance Fund;

    We make small grants (up to $10,000) with potentially big impacts;

     Donors choose which pre-vetted projects they want to support, and follow the projects' progress on our website. This process closely links donors with the projects they support.

Dr Fox says...

Extreme justice is an extreme injury: for we ought not to approve of those terrible laws that make the smallest offences capital, nor of that opinion of the Stoics that makes all crimes equal; as if there were no difference to be made between the killing (of) a man and the taking (of) his purse, between which, if we examine things impartially, there is no likeness nor proportion .~ Sir Thomas More in Utopia, Bk 1. (1516)
