African Women Development Foundation President Hails Echo

  Miss Africa USA 2008

Hello Mr. Ebrima Sankareh,

Lady Kate Njeuma

I am Lady Kate Njeuma, a Cameroonian-American based in Georgia and President and Founder of the African Women's Development Foundation (AWDF), which is a non-profit 501 c 3 organization here in Georgia. AWDF produces the annual Miss Africa USA Scholarship pageant, a great event that unites our communities to celebrate the essence and beauty of African women while making great strides in fulfilling our humanitarian mission.

I write to you because I have admired your writings and I think your efforts in the media are very laudable. Your paper is widely read and widely known not just to Gambians alone. It is out of such admiration that I wanted to have you as an honorary member or Affiliate of the African Women's Foundation. We plan to one day, do some humanitarian work in The Gambia and hope that you can assist us.

We also have the Miss Africa USA grand finals scheduled in Atlanta on Nov. 1st 2008 and would love to invite you to attend and may be cover the event. A very ambitious young lady called Tanta Badjan for New Jersey will represent Gambia. She is very talented and very smart and needs to be encouraged to follow her dreams as a singing sensation.

The West African Masquerade Society from The Gambia will also be performing for the pageant.

I really hope to hear back from you soon.

Sincerely,

Lady Kate Njeuma

Editor’s Note: On behalf of the entire Echo team I salute your efforts to help Africa. My colleague Mathew K. Jallow, founder of The Association of Non-Governmental Organizations-TANGO in The Gambia is an expert in Community Development with years of service to poor folks and hopefully, he will be of immense help to your endeavors. I have since sent him your message and I have no doubt that you would need his service. On a personal note, please accept my profound appreciations for all of your kind words and rest assured that The Echo would surely cover the events outlined in your message.

Dr Fox says...

Extreme justice is an extreme injury: for we ought not to approve of those terrible laws that make the smallest offences capital, nor of that opinion of the Stoics that makes all crimes equal; as if there were no difference to be made between the killing (of) a man and the taking (of) his purse, between which, if we examine things impartially, there is no likeness nor proportion .~ Sir Thomas More in Utopia, Bk 1. (1516)
