Those Who Live by the Sword Die by the Sword: How President Vieira was Mutilated

How President Joao Bernardo Vieira was mutilated

By EBRIMA G. SANKAREH, Editor-in-Chief

Following the brutal murder of Guinea Bissau’s long serving authoritarian president, Joao Bernardo Vieira last February, The Gambia Echo published some images of the macabre murder scene to show how those who live by the sword ultimately perish by the sword. For those who have been keenly following developments in Africa, the slain Guinean president’s atrocities pale in comparison to Gambian leader Mr.Yahya Jammeh’s wholesale murder of innocent Gambians, be they civilian or military. Yet, as has always been the case in history, while Vieira has been murdered in gruesome circumstances, President Jammeh continues to defy physics brutalizing and arresting innocent citizens on a daily basis. The latest being the sickening mass arrest of hundreds of villagers across the country for alleged possession of magical powers, which could potentially wreak havoc on a man who brags about his powers to communicate with the omniscient and the omnipotent.

Once again, we ask our readers to click on the link below and see the mutilated body of President Vieira with the hopeful anticipation that future leaders will learn history’s damning verdict, that those who live by the sword, die by the sword. The slain president’s body was so badly mutilated that doctors had to bring decapitated body parts together to accord the man a burial befitting a fallen Head of State. Please, viewer discretion is obliged as the images are so graphic and the atmosphere so chilling and heartbreaking.
