Sang Marie 2009 Announcements
The Gambia Christian People’s Association now renamed, The Gambia Christian Organization (GCO) is again poised to celebrate its Annual Atlanta, Georgia Sang Marie festivities on Saturday the 15th of August 2009. This year will mark sixteen years of bringing Gambians from all over the US, Europe and The Gambia to celebrate the Feast of the Patron Saint of the Catholic Diocese of Banjul and the Mother of our Lord, Jesus Christ.
This year the GCO is asking all our well wishers to make a donation to the organization in order to assist us in addressing the needs of our members here in the US and more especially, to embark on projects that will assist Gambians here in the United States and also provide help in the education and health sectors back home. In order to support these lofty ideals, we need to raise the funding and it is against this backdrop, that, regrettably for the first time in sixteen years, we will ask all of our visitors and well wishers attending this years celebrations for a $20.00 contribution from all adults and $10.00 for children and teenagers under eighteen years old.
The occasion will be graced with the presence of The Gambia's Ambassador to the United Nations, Mrs. Susan Waffa-Ogoo as Chief Guest of Honor and Fr. Joseph Gough, the famous former Principal of St. Augustine’s High School in Banjul. All past pupils are urged to take advantage of this opportunity for a reunion.
The usual Mass will start at 7.00PM at our adopted Parish, the IHM Catholic Church on Briarcliff Road, the reception will be at the Sunset Lodge on Ambar Drive, off Candler Road immediately after the Mass and a Picnic on Sunday at Stone Mountain Village Park.
