Ever wondered where Yahya Jammeh gets all the bogus doctor and professor degree titles from? Well, wonder no more. I got the answer for you. See, I was Googling to find some biographical information about Yahya Jammeh’s wife on the Internet, but instead, it led me to this so-called institute in Raleigh, North Carolina; American Biographical Institute and discovered this astounding information about Yahya Jammeh. Mr. Jammeh not only embellished his resume, but it turns out the Institute itself has a murky and questionable reputation.

Some years ago, a friend of Yahya Jammeh, (name withheld) who lives in Atlanta, Georgia, called and asked me to make arrangements with authorities at The University of Wisconsin to award Yahya Jammeh a doctoral degree, and my response was; “that was never going to happen.” At that time Jammeh had no title, whatsoever, to his name. The American Biographical Institute (ABI) generates its revenue from sales of degree and other certificates and books. Its degree awards have been denounced as scams by politicians, journalists, and others. The ABI writes to individuals who have been cited elsewhere and invites them to purchase various honors such as "International Man of the Year," "Most Admired Man of the Decade" or "Outstanding Man of the 21st Century" (see list below), or to be included in ABI publications, such as 500 Leaders of Science or The World Book of Knowledge in exchange for a "contribution fee. Those who accept, who sometimes write their own biographies,are offered books or certificates at prices as high as US $795. Recipients of these ABI-issued honors have included university professors; doctors and surgeons; educators; musicians; entrepreneurs; international statesmen and diplomats and leaders of non-profit organizations, among others. New awards are continually created and marketed. Most awards are available for between US $195 and $495, payable by the recipient, depending on their level of prestige and the quality of the printing on the certificate and the material in the frame or mount.
