Mathew K. Jallow Reacts to Samsudeen Sarr's Article

Mathew Jallow reacts to Sarr’s Article

For Immediate Release

Dear Editor,

Please allow me space to completely disassociate myself from Samsudeen Sarr’s article in which he made a disingenuous attempt to analyze one of my recent articles in The Gambia Echo. I am particularly offended by his insinuation that a part of the article which critiqued the opposition, somehow implied that they could not win an election against Jammeh’s APRC. To even infer that my piece in any way, shape or form chose to make Yahya Jammeh and the APRC look good at the expense of the opposition is the ultimate betrayal of my position and insulting to my character. For the record, my deadly hatred for Yahya Jammeh is incurable; a hatred which is now transferring to Samsudeen Sarr himself the more I read his offensive and filthy articles. I want to make it abundantly clear to Mr. Sarr that I don’t appreciate the use of my name or my writing to somehow give him the leverage to mount his own sinister and narrow tribally tinged cyber war. Mr. Sarr’s “presumably analytical” article which to me is nothing but a piece of garbage, does no justice to the spirit of my article. He also made reference to me alluding to the Wollofs; indeed I did, but only in reference to quoting Mr. Chongan.

Finally, does Mr. Sarr really think I don’t know that Banjulians are really a co-mingling of all our tribes? My article made reference to Banjulians yes; but Wollofs, NO Mr. Sarr. For I absolutely know the difference.  In so far as his reference of my defense of Sana Sabally against his own virulent character assassination several years ago, all I have to say is that I am not going into beating an already dead horse. I find Mr. Sarr’s submissiveness to Yahya Jammeh humiliating, cowardly and callous and I for one want no part of him or anything he stands to represent, not now, not anytime soon.

Sincerely,
Mathew K. Jallow.

Dr Fox says...

Extreme justice is an extreme injury: for we ought not to approve of those terrible laws that make the smallest offences capital, nor of that opinion of the Stoics that makes all crimes equal; as if there were no difference to be made between the killing (of) a man and the taking (of) his purse, between which, if we examine things impartially, there is no likeness nor proportion .~ Sir Thomas More in Utopia, Bk 1. (1516)
