Press Release: Gamsports Online clocks One?

Press Release: Gamsports Online clocks One?

It is one year ago this week, May 22, 2009 to be precise, when Gamsports hit the screens, as an addition to the already vibrant sports media in the Gambia. Twelve months and a hard survival battle later, we rejoice its birth with modesty and a renewed determination to get it better and longer in life. The past year however had not been just a stroll in the park for us at all. But while we did not succeed it attracting much needed resources to maintain the site, we compensated for that misfortune with painful sacrifice to ensure that we do our best towards informing our people with sports news that concern our country.

We are particularly very grateful to our contributors, advisers, and readers across the Gambia and the Gambian Diaspora as well as international sports bodies for their collaboration with us to cover Gambian sports.
The contributors, especially young journalists in Banjul under the dynamic leadership of bureau chief Sainabou Kujabi, have done a very good job and kudos to them.
We are also indebted heavily and in a special way to Tijan Massaneh Ceesay, who in this past year of our existence have helped tremendously in seeing to the richness of our pages and the welfare of the site in general. Through his historic series we attracted a large following among both young and elderly Gambian readership and for that we are very grateful.

As we enter into the second year in the life of Gamsports, we are delighted to inform our readership that we are ever more determine to continue the job and work harder to improve quality and regularity. Even more importantly we are considering to open up the media to the larger sports journalists family, through the auspicious sports journalists association, the details of this would soon be worked out and this is hopefully going to gave the media a wider scope in coverage. Once again we thank you all for keeping faith in us throughout the past year.

The Editors.

Dr Fox says...

Extreme justice is an extreme injury: for we ought not to approve of those terrible laws that make the smallest offences capital, nor of that opinion of the Stoics that makes all crimes equal; as if there were no difference to be made between the killing (of) a man and the taking (of) his purse, between which, if we examine things impartially, there is no likeness nor proportion .~ Sir Thomas More in Utopia, Bk 1. (1516)
