Breaking News: President Jammeh Weds Second Wife

Breaking News

President Jammeh weds 20-year Alima Sallah

-- Antouman Saho released from Mile II Prisons

Alima Sallah

Unimpeachable sources nestled within the corridors of state power have confirmed to The Gambia Echo that Gambia's President, Yaya Jammeh, in accordance with Islamic tenets wedded Miss Alima Sallah last night. Alima Sallah, 20, is the daughter of Alhagie O G Sallah, career civil servant and Gambia's current Ambassador to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Beautician, Zahra Miknas.

This confirmation brings to end, widespread speculations that the salacious Head of State was poised to take a second wife amid brewing tensions between him and his Moroccan wife, Madam Zainab Jammeh for the past half-year. Two months ago, The Gambia Echo came up with a bombshell revelation about the Gambian leader’s romantic relation with another young girl, Ms. Natalie Gomez, daughter of current Attorney General, Edward Gomez. Reacting angrily to that scoop, the Gambian authorities resorted to blocking our IP signals to The Gambia, effectively denying access to our thousands of readers who rely on the foreign on-line media for vital information about their country.

News of President Jammeh’s plans to wed Alima Sallah came in since last Thursday but as usual, The Gambia Echo was piecing the details piece by piece and today, we report to the whole world without equivocation, that indeed, President Jammeh now has two wives.

According to our State House operative, Kissy Kissy Mansa, the wedding took place at a private ceremony at the Sallah’s luxurious Pipeline residence and was attended by a handful of Islamic clerics and Jammeh’s notorious inner cabal of clandestine operatives.

For now though, speculations are rife that Madam Zainab who controls majority of Jammeh’s foreign wealth in Morocco and Guinea Conakry may eventually pack for good. Whatever action she takes, The Gambia Echo will continue to monitor the matrimonial chemistry as the all too powerful Zainab now has a co-wife as we say in that part of the world.

In another development, we have confirmed the release from Mile II Prisons of fomer Fisheries Minister, Hon. Antouman Saho earlier this afternoon, who was detained without charge for the past three months.

Dr Fox says...

Extreme justice is an extreme injury: for we ought not to approve of those terrible laws that make the smallest offences capital, nor of that opinion of the Stoics that makes all crimes equal; as if there were no difference to be made between the killing (of) a man and the taking (of) his purse, between which, if we examine things impartially, there is no likeness nor proportion .~ Sir Thomas More in Utopia, Bk 1. (1516)
