Badou Samba’s Letter: The Rants of a Mentally Disturbed Halifarite
Dear Editor,
I am writing in response to Badou Samba’s letter of 8th August 2010 which was published in your medium. This letter was supposedly meant to refute statements made in the UDP-UK Press Release. However, the UDP-UK statement was about clarifying erroneous statements made by Halifa Sallah as to why the ill-fated NADD was registered as a political party when in fact it was meant to be an alliance. But when I went through Badou’s letter, I saw nothing whatsoever that concerns this issues, and it makes me wonder why Badou thinks the release was malicious against Halifa. As far as I understood it, and I am sure this is the case for all sober people who read it, the UDP-UK’s release is all about clarifications! Clarifications! And Clarifications! ; Clarifications that have revealed something that Gambians didn’t previously know about, regarding the NADD debacle. It exposes Halifa Sallah’s irresponsible deception and revealed the real truth that lies behind the collapse of NADD the alliance, and it was well articulated and cleverly presented, with the utmost clarity one can ever ask for. So I commend UDP-UK for a job well done. Gambia has passed the stage where one so-called intellectual could jump-up and say whatever he likes and expect everybody to accept it like that without any scrutiny of it whatsoever. If that is What Badou had expected, then he must have been deluded.
As for his [Badou] letter, all we get from it is a clear sense of his bitterness, confusion and lack of commonsense. It is full of ridiculous innuendos and hopeless personal attacks that are not only lacking basis but also thoughtless and silly. It all sounds like the rambling of a culprit and the ranting of mad man.
I think those who have no explanation for the things they stand for or believe in should save us from the headache of filling the media space with their garbage. If Badou does not want anybody to criticise Halifa, then he should advice him to desist from issuing frivolous statements particularly against the UDP and its leader.
Thank you
Fatou Gaye
