Message to Gambians:How To Undo The Dictator?

By Plarke M. Caneckouteh, UK

The results from the Parlimentary election have presented another sad and gloomy picture of Gambian politics. Our hopes are once again dashed and rumbled with uncertainity. We are to live for another five years under Kanila monster's brutal regime. What a pathetic situation?!! But should we all blame it to the idiot? Shouldn't we now look at ourselves and our political roles at home? These and many other questions have to be answered by us with sincerity. A lot of talking and writings have been done but what is missing is action. We need to act now and get rid of the monster out before it is too late. We are in the21st. Century and not in the days of Uganda's Idi Amin , when brutes were allowed to destroy innocent lives. We need to react not militarily but educate our people to be conscious of their political roles. Education for political awareness does not start when elections are near or about to set. It does not only take the form of speeches and talks, but involves all efforts, ranging from providing support for the poor, paying school fees, setting projects that help the poor from their precarious situations that make them very vulnerable and dependent on the APRC politicians. It is a long battle that needs perserverance and tact. It is battle that cannot be won by words alone. It is a painful stride that must be fought with all our energies, all our strengths, our our resources and all our ideas. We are already disappointed by our politicians who put greed and selfishness before them. They are history. They are already rotten and fit for the dustbins. They have disppointed the entire nation because of personal greed and hunger for power. Jammeh and his APRC may be better idiots than these useless oppsitions. I therefore, call for a new forum in which Gambians all over come up with a new poltical strategy to get rid of Jammeh. We do not need to use violence or coup, but our votes. Our votes can get him out. He is not a mystery and a supernatural being as he constantly pretends to be. He is a mere coward that can be driven by a sound of a drum. He covers his cowardice with threats and killings. Idi Amin did the same in Uganda. He was murderous and wicked to the point that Ugandans feared calling his name for anything, except praises. But he was one day chased away by distant sounds of AK47 riffles from the forest of Tanzania. He had never waited to confront his challengers but ran with his tail wagging  between his legs. But for us, we do not need AK47, our votes can get the idiot out. Everybody needs to participate. We need to start now by running projects that emancipate people in The Gambia. The projects must help the poor and educate them about their political rights. People must be on the ground to de-colonize the masses from Jammenh's foolish indoctrination. This is my message to the Gambian people.
