According to our Yundum Barracks correspondent Officer "X" ( OX), President Yahya Jammeh has appointed Captain Modou Lamin Jarju from Soume village in the Western Division as Deputy Director General of the all too powerful National Intelligence Agency ( NIA) with immediate effect. According to OX, Captain Jarju who could barely read basic English was a member of the defunct Gambia National Gendermerie where he was noted for his drill skills. He was redeployed to the Gambia National Army and has since the coup been an army intelligence officer.
In a related development, President Jammeh has appointed Warrant Officer Sarjo Jarjou from Tallinding as Director of Operations at the NIA with immediate effect.Says OX, Sarjo was a disciplined and well behaved soldier but now that he is at the NIA, I am afraid he too, may soon fall prey to the wickedness that the job demands. The Gambian President also appointed warrant officer Nfally Jabang from Marakisssa village in the Western Division as one of the co- Directors of the NIA. Says OX, this latest appointments by President Jammeh heralds a total Jola hegemony of the NIA by the new year. It is a tactical decision to appointment Pa Jallow to help build a new NIA only to kick him out and have the entire agency run by President Jammeh's tribes men.
Interior Minister Ousman Sonko
Now that a confessed rapist Ousman Sonko heads the Interior Department not to talk about his involvement in some of the regime's most mysterious murder cases and having these cronies in key security positions, it remains to be seen where the country is headed to.It must be added that The Gambia's Army chief of staff Col. Lang Tombong Tamba is Jola from Sintet; the Tourism Minister Angela Colley is Jola from Jeswang; the Local Government Minister Ismaila Sambou is Jola from Kombo Darsalime; the Attorney General and Justice Minister is also Jola from Kangkunto Sanyang Kunda.
