More Anniversary Messages
Dear Editor:
The quality of your product deserves praise and appreciation. The need for sober discuss, the lack of which still plagues the Gambian internet community has seen a bite taken out of it because of your professionalism, and fair and fearless mindedness in the pieces you have written. Therefore, I wish to join the multitude of grateful readers to say JAARAMA. Kudos to your editorial staff and the many contributors for their useful and lucid words of wisdom. I also take this opportunity to counsel temperance and tolerance for other views as we surge forward to free our country. In this endeavor you have been at the forefront. Keep up the good work Ebrima. Thanks a million’

Happy Anniversary
By Pasamba Jow, Washington, DC
I join the readers in wishing Mr. Ebrima G. Sankareh and the entire Echo staff a happy first anniversary. The GAMBIAECHO newspaper has for the past year demonstrated professionalism through fact based reporting of the news. The paper epitomizes credible journalism and commitment to the truth and nothing but the truth.
We will forever etch this date in Gambia’s history as one of the noblest attempts to regain our country from the cowardly grip of dictator Jammeh. Most importantly, The Echo’s emergence came at the most crucial time when Gambian journalists are being killed, tortured, intimidated and media houses shut down and burnt with impunity.
Your resilience and dedication is a much-needed challenge to Jammeh and his thuggish government. In spite of how hard he tries to stifle the press in YThe Gambia, Gambians like yourself and your staff will always speak up against his tyranny without fear, affection, favor or ill will.
I will urge all justice loving Gambians and friends of the Gambia to celebrate this day with a bold defiance of the Jammeh regime. A defiance that will send Jammeh the clear message that no amount of killings, arrests, tortures and frolicsome charges will deter us from fighting to regain our country.

Dear Mr. Sankareh: I wish to join all the other readers and well wishers of The Gambia Echo in wishing you and your hardworking editorial crew a happy one-year anniversary. Reading your paper all the time do remind me well when you where teaching us in the early nineties at Sukuta. Once again, am wishing you all the best in your work.

Mr. Editor: Allow me as an admirer of your widely read on-line paper to express my happiness at your one years anniversary .I hope and pray that you and your able contributors will celebrate many more happy anniversaries.
We have benefited immensely from your unwavering quality news reports. Some times we may feel uncomfortable with certain matters relating to the wider well being of our fatherland but truth be told, those news reports always make prepare us for the future.
The one thing many will hold 'a toast of water to' is the masterful BB Dabo interview and some other revelations involving our countries security forces. Another highlight of your invaluable achievement are the harrowing detail account given by Officer Ox relating to the November 11 abortive coup.
I finally pray that Almighty Allah will continue to provide you with the strength and ability to relay the truth to us. Amen.
Accept my salaam.

HAPPY ANIVERSARY THE GAMBIA ECHO: THE UMBILICAL CORD
By Lamin Jammeh
Amidst a million media you 'Echoed' my faint cry for the dead to hear
Amidst mountains and jungles.
You illuminated my river for the world to see
Amidst the rumbling and rattling of media super powers
Your distinct message matters the most to me
You are the Umbilical cord Between the Diaspora and the Motherland
Like the river along the Mother Gambia
Boats-fish-hippos-irrigation-tourism and swimming
Like it is along the river in our
Motherland I see some collide as we ride
While I smile I remember
'Even the teeth and the tongue sometimes clash'
I can sense the potential in my brothers
You are the real Umbilical cord
Through you I feel the sorrow in brother's heart
Through you I console brother's soul
Through you I shall hear the victory
While we sit under the big-tree
To share the news of the victory
With fellow villagers under the big-tree
You are the Eternal Umbilical cord
It was hopelessness amidst darkness
Matured and diverse views clamoring for vent
Then rose the sun shining on June 15th
In a far land across the big sea with light reflected by the river on my people
This light was and is the "Eternal Umbilical Cord"
THE ECHO IS TRUELY ETERNAL UMBILICAL CORD
