Unassailable sources from State House say President Yahya A. J.J. Jammeh has sacked the embattled Mayor of The Kanifing Municipal Council, Mr. A. Momar Njie. He is replaced by Mr. Yankuba Colley. Says our most competent State House operative, Kissy Kissy Mansa, Finance Secretary Musa Bala Gaye and Chief Justice Abdou Karim Savage are being monitored by the National Intelligence Agency. For what ? We cannot tell at this stage.

Momoar Njie who replaced Francis Gomez about five months ago, has come under fire following allegations that he may have diverted well over D4milloin as Chief of The Gambia Boys'  Scout where he worked for several years before his appointment as KMC Chairman.

In the last three weeks Njie has been arrested, detained, hospitalized and then dragged to court charged with a barrage of embazzlement allegations. It remains to be seen what the future holds for the 73-year-old Momar Njie.

Our correspondent Kissy has asked us to stay alert as the NIA continues its "monitoring" of Musa Bala Gaye and Abdou Karim Savage. At this stage we have no clue why the men are being monitored and what the outcome is going to be.

Dr Fox says...

Extreme justice is an extreme injury: for we ought not to approve of those terrible laws that make the smallest offences capital, nor of that opinion of the Stoics that makes all crimes equal; as if there were no difference to be made between the killing (of) a man and the taking (of) his purse, between which, if we examine things impartially, there is no likeness nor proportion .~ Sir Thomas More in Utopia, Bk 1. (1516)
