Kissy Kissy Mansa Reacts To Worries About Credibility

Dear Editor:

I am really sorry to learn that there were certain elements within the readership that questioned the veracity of the information that I provide to The Gambia Echo, specifically relating to the dismissal of Saja Taal.  I wish to assure you and the readership that no information is transmitted to you for publication that has not been scrutinized and confirmed by me and my close and trusted collaborators.  The quality of the information I transmit is important to me.  I am not interested, and never will I engage, in speculative reporting especially in the final days of the government of Yahya Jammeh when truth in reporting is paramount if we are to gain the trust and eventual support of the general public to facilitate the smooth transition from the dictatorial rule of Jammeh to a democratic dispensation where the rule of law and the freedom of expression will be foundation upon which the new Gambia of the Third Republic will be built.

Information reaching me is that immediately following The Gambia Echo's interview with Ousman Rambo Jatta after his release from 13 months of illegal detention by Yahya Jammeh, the NIA is attempting to impede the publication of the interview accompanied by photos of Rambo as promised by your esteemed paper.  I would therefore impress upon you that if all the elements are in place, you should have the interview published as soon as possible.  Otherwise, Rambo's family and friends will come under pressure not to collaborate with you, even though I do not believe that Rambo will accede to requests from the Dictator or his cronies.  Needless to say that Yahya Jammeh has been embarrassed by the illegal detention of the two Amnesty International staff together with their Gambian associate.  The subsequent reaction of the international community has rattled Jammeh's government to the point that he has distance himself from the affair claiming that the Police and NIA were responsible for the unauthorized abduction of Ousman Rambo Jatta.  The mere fact that Daily Observer is reporting the release of Rambo is uncharacteristic and unusual of the the official mouthpiece of the Jammeh regime.  By distancing itself from the illegal arrest and detention of Rambo leading to one of the major public relations disaster of the Jammeh regime, he is preparing to sacrifice the leadership of the security service chiefs including Secretary of State for the Interior, Ousman Sonko, who is increasingly becoming an albatross around Jammeh's neck because of Ousman Sonko's past activities as one of Jammeh's henchmen linked to the killing of Deyda Hydaraand other murders.

Sincerely,

KKM.

"In the coming days, we will wrap up the Jammeh-Sabi corruption nexus, the scholarships to the black beauty queens and then begin an exclusive report on human sacrifice by the Jammeh regime. Our correspondent Waato Seeta has the details."
