Freedom & The Gambia Echo Newspapers Recognized
By Ebrima G. Sankareh, Editor-In-Chief

Echo's Editor E.G. Sankareh & friend Sheriff Manneh (a.k.a Momalong/Kenhamuut).
A NON-Political and non-partisan group, the Raleigh based Senegambia Society under the stewardship of Messrs: Momodou Lama Jallow of Gam-Way Computers, Omar Jabang of Afro-Global Enterprises, Burang John Sisay of Bun’s Afra Services and Dawda Sarge, recognized the potent social roles that the community’s two news media-Freedom and The Gambia Echo Newspapers render to humanity. In his rather touching citation at the annual New Year’s Eve festivities, the Master of Ceremonies the affable and urbane Landing Aboye Colley; a celebrity in his own right, eulogized Messrs: Pa Nderry Mbai and Ebrima G. Sankareh for their journalistic incisiveness and more significantly, their determination to educate, inform and entertain members of the Senegambia community and Gambians across the spectrum. “We therefore commend you for your fantastic efforts in this endeavor and ask that you maintain the requisite professionalism that your job entails” said MC Colley, a former TV personality at Gambia’s GRTS. Both Mbai and Sankareh were then asked to stand for a fitting recognition and the impressive crowd at the auditorium punctuated their presence with a thunderous applause.

Shortly thereafter, raffle prizes sponsored by the organizers and or other local businesses were presented. The food was good as evidenced in the manner Colley a Jola and RSM Faye a Serere were twisting and turning their folks and knives. The Fulas ate modestly lest the Jolas and Sereres held them accountable to our traditional joking law of chalit. Little did the Sereres and Jolas know that Alhagie Burang John Sisay’s culinary fingers had prepared enough for their seemingly insatiable appetites.
In the end, it was a memorable nightlong party, of festivities, hugging and renewal of loyalties and ties. The general camaraderie was fever pitch especially, when DJ Anthony Jawo hammered the digital player home with reminiscences of Free Town Titi Collection. Come see Raleigh’s grand mechanic Gabriel Gomez as he nimbly twists and turns his waist inside out. Oh what a scene?
